A Cornish holiday lettings agency has revealed it is on track for its best year yet, despite a difficult beginning for the Duchy’s tourism industry.
Since the business was launched in 2007, Cornish Gems luxury holiday letting agency has grown from a property portfolio of three to 140 cottages across the county and now has offices in Truro, St Ives and Carbis Bay.
Compared to this point in time last year, it has seen an increase of 35% in bookings for its luxury holiday cottages across the county for 2014, despite the battering storms at the beginning of the year.
With storms hitting Cornwall at the end of 2013 and beginning of 2014, many tourism businesses suffered due to building and property damage, as well as a decrease in bookings during early school holidays.
And with more than 90% of its properties already booked for the summer season, it is on track to match or even beat last year’s benchmark of 99% of properties fully booked during this peak time.
General manager, Tamsin Huddy, said: “With excellent results last year, we hope our strong sales figures will continue for an even better 2014.”
