South west firm of chartered accountants Bishop Fleming has reported a record year.

The company, which is ranked as the fastest growing Top 50 accountancy firm in Britain, revealed that fee income grew by 28% in a year that saw its number of offices increase from five to seven, the number of partners expand from 17 to 25, and the number of staff rise from 200 to 295.

In a year that included acquisitions of offices in Bath and Worcester, Bishop Fleming says it also invested almost £500k in its offices and systems.

Managing partner, Matthew Lee, commented: “This growth reflects our adherence to a determined business plan, based on our commitment to serve owner-managed businesses in the south west and West Midlands.”

Acquisition of the Bath and Worcester offices made a partial contribution to the firm’s increased fee income, up from £9.5M to £13.2M, but won’t take full effect until next year.

“More important,” Lee added, “is the fact that £1M extra income arose from organic growth among existing clients and new clients won by our core offices, including more than 100 academy schools.”

In addition to Bath and Worcester, Bishop Fleming, which has been in Truro for the past 25 years, also has offices in Exeter, Bristol, Torquay, and Plymouth.
