Business Cornwall: How is the business best described?

We are chartered accountants based in Newquay; the partnership of two ex-colleagues turned friends, Samantha Linggard and Lucy Thomas. We are a pro-active, forward thinking accountancy practice.  We have grown over the last 3 years and now have over 300 clients and a team of 6 that moved into new premises in Nansledan last year.

Business Cornwall: Why was the business founded?

We founded our practice to support businesses and their owners, our goal is to empower our clients so they are equipped to make good business decisions.  We enable our clients to concentrate on what they do best without worrying about their finances.

Business Cornwall: How does the business compare to competitors in the industry?

Unlike some of our competitors we don’t limit the types of clients we work with – we work with businesses of all sizes, whether they are a single sole-trader or a multi director Limited company.

We also like to have a close business relationship with all of our clients; speaking directly with them as much as possible to ensure we’re working towards the same goals. For some clients we are even their in-house finance team, we can be as involved in your business as you would want us to be. We certainly don’t want it to be that you only hear from us once a year when your tax return is due!

Business Cornwall: What are the business’s plans both short-term and long-term?

In the short term we’re focusing on enhancing client services using our new office in Nansledan to add new members to our team and bring in a more varied skillset.

For the long term, our aim is to become the go-to accountancy firm for businesses looking to grow in the county.

Business Cornwall: How does the business define success?

We define success by how we see our clients grow through working closely with us. This could be by helping a client move from being a sole trader to a limited company; assisting with a business expansion or giving advice on payroll and the best way to pay staff.

We believe that our accountancy services empower our clients by giving them the time, tools and knowledge to succeed and to reach their goals.
