The Scillonian III set sail this morning (March 18) for its inaugural voyage of the season, departing Penzance on schedule at 0955.

The Isles of Scilly Steamship Group’s much loved passenger ferry carried more than two hundred passengers this morning. As the islands gear up for another busy season, Scillonian III also carried large quantities of freight, including a large bull destined for a farm on St Mary’s.

During 2023, Scillonian III transported over 118,000 passengers to the islands.

This year, the group is continuing to strengthen the ease of travel to and from the islands with the introduction of online check-in.

It is now possible to check-in for each journey online 24 hours before the scheduled departure time. As a result, passengers arriving for their sailing will be able to bypass the check in queue and proceed to embarkation.

The popular Locals’ Offer has been reintroduced for the new season, with a day trip costing £25 for residents of Cornwall.

This offer is part of the group’s commitment to not only provide exceptional customer service, but to help make the islands more accessible for people to enjoy and explore. With cheaper fares, there is even more reason for locals to finally see all that the islands have to offer.

The start of the new season follows Scillonian III’s busy maintenance period, where the crew has been working hard checking and surveying equipment, training new staff, and finishing all internal and external paintworks.

The Steamship Group is looking forward to another year of connecting the islands with the mainland on Scillonian III, a route that has been named by ORCA as the UK’s best for wildlife spotting for a second year in a row.
