Renewable energy seminar success

More than 140 delegates, mostly Cornish landowners, have attended a seminar at the Royal Cornwall Showground on renewable energy.

The event was co-hosted by accountants Winter Rule, solicitors Stephens Scown, chartered surveyors Stratton & Holborrow and Cornwall Agri-food Council.

Brian Harvey from Winter Rule, who chaired the event, said: “We know from our landowner clients and our own ‘Green Team’ that renewable energy generation has been a hot topic since the introduction of the Feed in Tariffs in April.

“We have seen a number of farmers and other landowners come to us to appraise offers made to them by developers. So the time was right to organise an event that would not only advise on what terms the landowners maybe should and should not be signing up to, based on what we and other professionals had collectively experienced, but also to give a heads up on other related issues, such as tax planning.

“We were delighted that other professionals involved in the sector were likeminded about the need for such an event and the high attendance is testament to the demand for impartial advice in this area.”

Following the success of the event, Winter Rule has said it will look to organise further seminars on the subject in the New Year – as developments occur in the sector.
