Cornish start-up ScaffFloat is planning to open its doors to the public next month.

Based in Bissom near Penryn, ScaffFloat has been revolutionising the world of water-based civil engineering projects with an inventive floating platform made from standard scaffolding.

This innovation is now being used in projects across the country and further afield and the system has been sent as far as Australia.

ScaffFloat started in 2019 and moved to its new site in Bissom last spring where the company is now ready to open its doors.

The yard (Bissom TR10 9LH) will be open to the public between 10am and 4pm on Friday, December 2, and there will be sea trials leaving from Mylor Yacht Harbour between 10am and 3pm to give people a chance to try out an 8m x 4m ScaffFloat platform equipped with 2x 60hp engines.

For anyone wanting to delve further into the company’s plans for the future, ScaffFloat is also organising a set of talks with its partners: MintMecht Specialist Engineers and Solis Marine Engineering.
