A definitive reference work on the complex issues arising from changes in the tax treatment of Furnished Holiday Lettings’ (FHL) has been written by a prominent Cornish accountant.

John Endacott, a partner at the Truro office of chartered accountants Francis Clark with Winter Rule, is a regular writer for the professional tax press and acknowledged for his tax expertise. He was shortlisted for Tax Writer of the Year in 2009.

His book ‘Furnished Holiday Lettings – a Tax Guide’, was recently published by Claritax Books Limited.

Ray Chidell of publisher Claritax, said: “John’s book is a practical guide to the complex tax rules relating to furnished holiday lettings, written by a highly qualified author with a great deal of personal experience of the topic.

“The book is aimed at accountants and other tax specialists, and most accountants in popular tourist areas of the country will have clients with FHL properties. The book is fully up to date with new tax rules introduced this year and it contains an excellent balance between technical analysis and practical advice.”

John Endacott added: “Hopefully, readers will find this guide useful. I also hope there is further action by the tax authorities to deal with some of the unacceptable grey areas of the rules in the hope that this will achieve a fairer and more consistent tax system.”
