Camelford secures legacy funding

Camelford Leisure Centre has been awarded £50k of Olympic legacy funding from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities Fund.

The funding will enable the leisure centre to purchase platforms to reduce the depth of the pool and the installation of a key fob controlled access system.

Sport England’s Chair, Richard Lewis, said: “This investment will create will be a fantastic sporting legacy for Camelford.

“This fund has really hit the mark with sports clubs in Cornwall. It shows we’re offering the legacy that people want for their local community. For hundreds of clubs and tens of thousands of people, 2012 will be the year their local sports facilities got better.”

Local MP, Dan Rogerson, added: “The money from Sport England is hugely welcome and will make a big contribution to the efforts of making Camelford Leisure Centre run more efficiently and helping it thrive in the months and years ahead.

“The funding is testament to the hard work and dedication of the Friends of Camelford Leisure Centre as well as the centre’s staff, who have been working tirelessly to secure the future of the leisure centre.”
