Sally Crabtree, better known as the Poetry Postie, has visited Camborne to deliver postcards as part of the town’s Covid-19 ‘One in a Million’ campaign.

Not only that, she’s composed a song to celebrate all that Camborne has to offer and performs it, together with local people who join in the chorus, on video and podcast.

Organised by the BID (Business Improvement District) team and designed to reflect the many positive ways in which Camborne residents are coping with the pandemic, the ‘One in a Million’ postcards will provide a lasting record of the current crisis.

“We wanted to capture people’s thoughts about what has been happening and showcase our community’s incredible resilience and their collective determination to move forward and re-build,” said BID manager Anna Pascoe.

“It’s easy to wallow in negativity, but our town’s spirit and can-do attitude are really impressive. Camborne typifies Cornwall’s ‘One and All’ mentality – supporting each other when times are tough and doing their best to move forward together.”

Having appeared at the United Nation’s Palais des Nations, the V&A, the Royal Festival Hall, Glastonbury and the Venice Biennale, Sally Crabtree is a “globe-trotting tour-de-force” who thrives on encouraging communities to express themselves.

“Poetry Postie spent a day in Camborne high street handing out postcards for residents to write down their Covid reflections,” said BID team member Chantelle Roberts. “She was really energetic and lovely and the song she’s composed is brilliant. We loved having her here.”
