Supermarket giant Lidl’s plans to buy land in Pool currently owned by Powell’s Garage have been met with delight by the Powell family who say that the purchase will enable them to re-locate and expand on another prime site locally.
Lidl has been in negotiation to buy the property on Agar Road for some time and has now applied for planning permission for the site which lies on the main road between Redruth and Camborne.
News of the imminent deal has caused great excitement amongst Powells’ staff who are now looking forward to moving their business to an as yet undisclosed location in the surrounding area.
“We are very excited at the prospect of having new premises that will allow us to continue developing the company in line with our customers’ needs,” said Heather Powell, who runs the garage with her husband Ken. “Money from the sale will be invested in the business so we are all looking forward to being able to offer an even better service.”
