With public services under increasing pressure to deliver more efficiently, three organisations are collaborating to share how digital transformations offer the opportunity to improve services and reduce costs.
Redruth-based technology partner, Headforwards, in partnership with Microsoft and Cornwall Council are hosting a free briefing in Exeter on November 14 for local authorities, local government and the public sector.
The Digital Futures programme at Cornwall Council is already successfully evidencing the potential for improvements to services and has seen an impact for both employees and service users. Cornwall Council’s ambitious digital strategy includes creating a single view of the resident. With a contact centre taking 2,000 calls a day covering 20 different service areas, the Council’s goal has been to improve the experience for both employees and citizens, while maintaining high quality records.
Headforwards has been augmenting the Council’s own multidisciplinary teams to deliver the project, deploying a combination of Microsoft technologies, including Dynamics 365, Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Power Platform.
Headforwards co-founder, Toby Parkins, said: “Cornwall Council is an impressive example of how public services and local authorities can create meaningful change, and our ambition for this event is to share with others how they can accelerate their own transformations.

Cornwall Council’s Bob Bunce will talk about master data management and the task of creating a single view of a resident, and Owen Hodge, product manager at Headforwards will discuss building process efficiencies internally and externally.
Attendees will hear from Robin Denton, director of local government at Microsoft, who will look at accelerating the impact of AI. He said: “Many local authorities are already on some form of digital transformation journey but the challenge is how to accelerate that.
“Cornwall Council is an excellent example of a holistic digital transformation taking in both technology and culture, using Microsoft technologies to drive change. We’re looking forward to sharing learnings with other public services and local authorities and talk about what the future might look like with the introduction of AI.”
Presentations will be followed by a panel session focused on change and adoption.
