Samphire Marketing + Web Ltd is a small, specialist agency focused on the more technical aspects of website development and online marketing.  We are a team of between 6 and 10 depending on our clients’ needs. Services include website development, website improvement (CRO, UX, SEO), Search Engine Optimisation, Paid Search (Google and Microsoft Ads), Paid Social Media and content writing.

Sam Kirby, Samphire’s founder and MD, is also a qualified teacher and experienced marketing trainer. We run webinars and training sessions on everything we do.

Business Cornwall: Why was the business founded?

After years of experience client-side with organisations including the Virgin Group, PADI International and Falmouth University, Sam Kirby ran Electric Dialogue, a digital marketing agency based in London and worked as a Digital Marketing Coach for Oxford Innovation.  From there, Sam saw a real need to help Cornish marketers develop and understand their technical side.

Whilst Cornwall is full of designers and writers, who create beautiful websites, businesses often do not know how to set up their sites well for SEO, or how to track, understand and react to marketing performance data.

Our mission is to make sure that your website not only looks great and reflects your brand accurately, but also performs brilliantly, bringing in the right type and right level of business for you.

Business Cornwall: How does the business compare to competitors in the industry?

In line with our mission to drive your business performance, our focus is often more technical than others in the industry.  We put a strong emphasis on reporting, putting the time in to check performance each month in detail for our clients and recommending improvements we can work on together to drive growth.

Despite our tech-y mindset, we aim to communicate in language our clients can understand.  We have a very transparent process, explaining clearly what your money is paying for and recommending changes to approach when needed.

We also offer training, to help you and your team learn to do the work we do, if you’d rather take all or some of it on yourselves.  Where businesses need marketing support but already have a web team in place, we are more than happy to work alongside other agencies and enjoy doing so.

Business Cornwall: What are the business’s plans both short-term and long-term?

We want to continue to do what we do. We are a team of 6-10 specialists, flexing as we need to, and want to stay that way.  We are currently especially keen to work with e-commerce businesses who are ready to invest in their marketing to drive growth.

Business Cornwall: How does the business define success?

If you’re happy and we’re happy with the performance we are driving for you, then things are going well.  For some clients we work with, that is dramatic growth. For others, it is staying sustainable.

Success is often measured in revenue or in levels of the leads driven but does vary client by client and month by month.  Outside of the obvious targets, if we can all get outside, relax, and enjoy our lives without too many work-related worries, then that’s success for us.
