Cornish broadband provider Wildanet is rolling out its new fibre network in Torpoint.

Businesses and homes in the area will soon have access to gigabit speeds of 1,000Mbps, which will be among fastest Internet speeds in the UK.

Cornwall still has countless communities that are suffering with poor quality Internet connection, making life harder for many families and businesses in these areas. Wildanet is working to change this by investing £50 million to improve the digital infrastructure across Cornwall, bringing fast Internet connection to those areas that have (until now) been left behind.

General manager and chief operating officer, Justin Clark, said: “Wildanet’s network roll out is a major infrastructure project for Cornwall which stands to deliver significant social and economic benefits, ensuring homes and businesses in the county have access to the reliable, high speed Internet they need and deserve – and which are enjoyed by many parts of the UK.

“We’re pleased to be extending our network to Torpoint, which represents one of the largest areas to date in our roll out programme.”

Work is expected to be complete in Torpoint by the spring and Wildanet hopes to be able to start connecting the first customers by early in the new year.
