Better leisure centres throughout Cornwall are offering local residents a discount of up to 25%.
The Cornwall Card is free and available to anyone with a Cornish postcode. Launched in 2021, it means an adult can swim for £5 and a junior for £3. Locals visiting the Trampoline Park in Newquay will also benefit from a £2 reduction, as will those attending a fitness class.
GLL runs Better leisure centres on behalf of Cornwall Council and, as a social enterprise, says it is committed to improving community health and fitness.
“Mental and physical well-being go hand in hand and there is plenty of evidence to prove that regular exercise makes people feel better,” said James Curry, head of service for GLL in Cornwall.
“We launched our Cornwall Card last year and have decided to keep it free for the moment. The cost of living is affecting us all and we want to do as much as we can to make access to our facilities as affordable as possible.”
The centres included in the scheme are based in Bude, Launceston, Saltash, Liskeard, Helston, Newquay, Truro, St Austell, St Ives and Wadebridge.
Cards can be applied for online and at a centre reception.
