Saint Piran Pro Cycling has announced the signing of Alex Richardson to its men’s UCI Continental team.

Richardson will join the team immediately and will compete in races across the UK and the continent. His first race will be the Stockton GP on July 3.

London-based rider Richardson has been one of the leading riders in the UK having ridden for One Pro Cycling, Canyon-dhb p/b Bloor Homes and more recently Alpecin-Fenix. He has won the Lincoln GP, Arno Wallaard Memorial and a stage of the Tour de la Mirabelle during his illustrious career.

He said: “I am incredibly excited at this new challenge. I am really looking forward to sharing some of my experiences with the team and racing at a higher level for the rest of the season, it will be good fun.”

Richard Pascoe, team owner of Saint Piran, added: “We have wanted Alex for a long time. He brings a wealth of experience and success directly into the team. We have a lot of young riders who are on the cusp of strong and successful careers so having someone of Alex’s experience and insight will be important to them and our riders from our women’s elite development and 0503 feeder teams.

“But this is also an opportunity for Alex to really push forward and achieve results. We are looking forward to him wearing the black and white of Saint Piran and being part of our growing success – not just now but into the future. We are at the start of our professional cycling journey and have an awful lot more to give.”

Richardson is the second rider in a week to sign for the Cornish team, following the addition of Australian talent Cooper Sayers from Nero Continental.
