Young Cornish design company, Boex 3D Creative solutions, has won a bid to remodel a Bristol hospital’s accident and emergency department’s waiting area.

The project involves redesigning the waiting area; reception desk; children’s waiting area and children’s treatment room to enhance the visitor and staff experience of the Frenchay Hospital’s accident and emergency department and create an environment that will “uplift, calm and reassure”.

Boex wowed the interview panel with their innovative and inspired ideas to update the look of the emergency waiting area.  “By reflecting on previous designs, we understand that environment can affect morale and emotions; well thought out surroundings can enhance a person’s experience” say Will and Sam Boex.

Juliette Hughes, Clinical Matron for Frenchay Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Department explained: “It is very exciting to have our waiting area re-designed by Boex.  I believe that a well designed environment will really impact positively on both the patients and staff within the department”.

Sam and Will Boex of Boex 3D Creative Solutions are working with the arts programme for North Bristol NHS Trust – Fresh Arts, established and run by Willis Newson, who is delighted to be working with the Boex duo.  The Fresh Arts programme is the new ongoing arts programme covering both Frenchay and Southmead Hospitals and aspires to improve the working lives of patients and staff at the hospital by enhancing the internal environment.
