Cornwall-based start-up, The Good Robot Company, will be showcasing its next-generation bias detection software for artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) systems at an exclusive launch event at Falmouth University’s venture studio, Launchpad this week (Aug 11).

In a world increasingly integrated with AI and ML systems, founders Fin McCormick, a recent University of Exeter business graduate and Exeter student Lizbeth Chandler, are excited to introduce the county’s tech community to their cutting-edge solution.

McCormick explained: “I completed my dissertation on using AI in organisational management and realised there was a huge issue with biased and unethical output from AI that nobody seemed to be tackling. After mentioning this to Lizbeth, we realised it was a problem that needed addressing.”

The duo validated their idea during the recent Techstars Startup Weekend at Launchpad and have continued to develop the technology through Launchpad’s inaugural Start-up Academy.

McCormick added: “What was once an interesting side project has quickly developed into a tech start-up. In 12 weeks, we’ve gone from concept to a demonstratable product, and we can’t wait to showcase it.”

Chandler said “We’ve developed a product that is a significant step up from the existing data sway dependent bias detection software on the market. As we now accelerate user testing, I can’t wait to continue to build a product that will have a profound impact on such a disruptive technology.”
