A woman entrepreneur with a head for figures is looking to bring management accounts to life with a “fun approach” to business.
Natalie Cape has launched Truro-based Hippo Business Services following a 12-year career in bookkeeping and management accounts with DCN & Co, a sister company to Robinson Reed Layton.
Based on Lemon Street, Cape believes that there are fresh ways to present financial information to enable business owners to better understand them.
She said: “For many people, mention management accounts and they roll their eyes – it’s often seen as the least interesting part of running a business.
“I believe this is because the information hasn’t been presented in an engaging way. Infographics, for example, are proving a more manageable way to present complex information.
“I actually think accounts can be fun – if accounts are brought to life, small business owners will take the time to absorb the information, which helps them make crucial business decisions.”
