St Agnes-based Driftwood Brewery has launched a new beer especially for neighbour Lewsey Lou’s.

The fish shop, jointly owned by England Rugby World Cup winner Josh Lewsey and Louise Treseder, owner of the brewery, wanted a beer that complimented it’s freshly prepared fish and seafood.beer

Lewsey said: “Some ales are too heavy to go with fish and healthier dishes. We wanted our signature brew to be subtle enough to not overshadow the freshness of the fish, but also be robust enough to stand up as a beer in its own right.

“I couldn’t wish for a better pint to have our name on it.”

Pete Martin, head brewer at Driftwood Brewery, added: “On the continent diners will often choose beer over wine to accompany a meal and they have a range of tastes and finishes to choose from.

“People in the UK are also now starting to understand that beer and food go together really well.

“Because Lewsey Lou’s sells fresh local fish and various seafood options we have used Admiral, Fuggles and Bramling Cross hops.”

The new beer is available from the shop but will soon be available for sale at selected outlets and in the Driftwood Spars pub.
