Work to upgrade Newlyn Harbour’s North Pier is set to get underway next week.

Having identified several areas of subsidence and substandard surfacing at North Pier, the first phase of a resurfacing project will commence from Monday (June 26).

As a consequence, North Pier will be closed to all vehicles for approximately six weeks.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused but this resurfacing is necessary not only to ensure the resilience of Newlyn Harbour’s infrastructure but also for reasons of health and safety,” said Harbour Master and CEO, Jonathan Poynter.

“We have provided harbour users with early notice to give them sufficient time to make alternative arrangements and thank them for their cooperation throughout the planned phases of this enhancement project, which will take place during the next 12 months.

“As a Trust Port, we reinvest any surplus revenue for the benefit of harbour users and the wider community, and NP&HC is wholeheartedly committed to investing in Newlyn’s infrastructure to enhance and preserve it for the future.”
