A popular Cornish crab shack will open a second restaurant in 2024, located in Hayle.
Lula, which first opened in Hayle in 2020, has built a large following thanks to its relaxed beachside dining with dishes and cocktails inspired by America’s deep south.
The original site at North Quay closed its doors earlier this year for reasons beyond the owners’ control. This sparked a new collaboration with The Rockpool bar in Gwithian, and will now be followed by the opening of another venue in 2024.
Sam Sheffield, who created and continues to run LULA, commented: “Many of our lovely Shackers will be aware of the journey that we’ve been on in the last eight months, ever since we had to leave our original site at North Quay in Hayle. It has been a hugely difficult time, but thanks to the support of locals, visitors, friends and family, we have made it through to the other side.
“We were over the moon when The Rockpool in Gwithian heard of our situation and offered us a new home. This sparked an incredible relationship and we’re excited to say that we will remain at this beautiful spot. The kitchen will reopen on 1 December, ready for all the Christmas delights.
“In the coming weeks we will be moving everything from the original LULA and preparing it to go over to a brand new site. We can’t say too much more on this just yet, but we’ll be ready to announce more in the coming weeks and months.”
