Some of the south west’s leading business brains are sharing their stories in a new podcast.

Business Noodles and Doodles gives listeners a chance to get to know the people behind successful businesses in sectors ranging from leisure and tourism to technology and food and drink.

The new podcast series has been launched by PKF Francis Clark to showcase the region’s entrepreneurial talent and shed light on what it takes to build a thriving business.

In each episode, corporate finance partner Mark Greaves talks to a south west business leader, finding out what drives them and the challenges they have had to overcome.

“Behind every successful business there are people with a passion who have taken risks, put their heart and soul into creating something unique and learned a lot along the way,” said Greaves.

“As accountants and business advisers, we’re lucky enough to get to know and help some amazing entrepreneurs and business owners. We’re fascinated by what makes them tick and how they have grown their businesses, so we wanted to bring their stories to a wider audience.”

In the first episode, Will Ashworth, chief executive of Watergate Bay Hotel in Cornwall and Another Place in the Lake District, talks about the evolution of tourism and how to maintain a strong culture in a growing business. During a wide-ranging conversation, he discusses his family’s long involvement in the hospitality industry, what his team have been doing during lockdown and his plans to create a new collection of lifestyle hotels.

Ashworth said: “I really enjoyed being a guest on the podcast. It was cathartic in many ways, and an opportunity to reflect on the past year, which has certainly been very difficult but equally thrilling as well.”

New episodes of Business Noodles and Doodles will be released monthly.
