Cornish business leaders discovered how Britain’s ‘Local Airline’ is looking to put the pleasure back into business travel at a networking event at Newquay Cornwall Airport last week.
The evening was a joint initiative of Air Southwest and Newquay Cornwall Airport, supported by Cornwall Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and provided an opportunity for more than 50 business people from across the county to view the airport’s new executive lounge and receive an update on the airline’s air links from Newquay to ten destinations across the UK and Ireland.
Earlier this year Air Southwest enhanced travel between Cornwall and the capital with the launch of a new service to London City Airport. With a choice of up to six flights a day to London, the new business lounge is proving to be particularly beneficial for Air Southwest business passengers travelling to London City and Gatwick Airports.
Mike Coombes, commercial director of Air Southwest, said: “Reliable year-round air links are vital to the region’s businesses, especially in these challenging economic times. As Newquay Cornwall Airport’s biggest operator, we were delighted to work with the airport to offer Cornwall Chamber members an opportunity to experience the excellent facilities now on offer at Newquay Cornwall Airport and learn more about how Air Southwest’s route network and Business Plus service are putting the pleasure back into business travel.”
Andrew Skipp, Newquay Cornwall Airport’s newly-appointed chairman commented: “With the work that has taken place here at Newquay Cornwall Airport over recent months, Cornwall now has a truly excellent airport which will serve the county’s air travel needs for years to come. Air Southwest is our biggest airline operator, and their Business Plus customers will now have an even more enjoyable experience when travelling through Newquay Cornwall Airport with the opening of our new executive lounge.”
