Made in Cornwall has joined forces with Cornish provenance promotion specialist Shop Cornish.

Known for its long-established accreditation scheme for products that are officially made here in the Duchy, the collaboration will help take Made in Cornwall to the next level.

While the Made in Cornwall badge is well known and many businesses already proudly wear the mark, there are still many more that don’t realise the work it is doing supporting local supply chains.

The team behind Shop Cornish, headed up by Andrew Weaver of Live Events South West (Cornwall Home Shows, Cornwall Business Show, Fowey Christmas Market), has a 16-year history of working with and championing hundreds or Cornish brands.

Weaver said: “I wholeheartedly support the Made in Cornwall scheme and want to see as many of the official accreditation badges and stickers being used by as many appropriate businesses as possible.

“Making a conscious choice to source and make here in Cornwall is in my eyes an essential part of looking after our region and the people within it. With globalisation moving at an alarming rate, we need to stay ahead and protect the provenance, uniqueness and quality of the food, art, jewellery, and much more that Cornwall is renowned for.

“Working alongside the Made in Cornwall team will enable both the accreditation and promotion that many makers and producers need more than ever.”

Jayne Tomlinson, head of Trading Standards Cornwall, added: “We are very excited to be joining forces and collaborating with Shop Cornish to help take Made in Cornwall to the next level.

“Shop Cornish are doing a fantastic job promoting Cornish products and provenance and working with them will only benefit MIC members and the visibility of the scheme itself. We are experienced in the audits and Shop Cornish in advertising and events, together we can showcase the best of authentic Cornwall.”
