Spring clean for Falmouth

Businesses, community organisations and residents are coming together to work alongside the Falmouth BID to hold a series of ‘spring cleans’ in the town.

Beach cleans, litter picks, graffiti removal, shopfront cleans, green space revamps – dozens of sites are to be given a colourful makeover between now and May 5.

The cleans would usually fall under the umbrella of the Spring Festival, which is coordinated by the

Falmouth BID. However, due to Covid, various aspects of the event cannot go ahead, thus resulting in a strong key focus on volunteer-led cleans.

This year, there is a strong focus on the town centre, with multiple cleans and litter picks taking place right through from High Street to Bar Road.

Emma Webster, events coordinator for Falmouth Town Team, said: “With businesses opening back up we felt it was really important to focus on the town centre to ensure it is a clean, safe and welcoming place for visitors and locals alike to venture to.”

Falmouth BID manager, Richard Wilcox, added: “The Spring Clean Days have gone from strength to strength, and it is terrific to welcome so many committed volunteers and organisations back again this year despite the challenges we have faced over the past 12 months.

“Having such a dynamic community, working together with the Town Team ensures that so much more can be done.”
