Shopkeepers in Hayle have been from the opportunity of brushing up on their retailing skills with some expert advice.

Cornwall Retail Skills has been delivering training across the Duchy, with the help of Convergence funding. CRS Co-ordinator Jo Lake explained: “Over the last 18 months we’ve worked with over 200 businesses and individuals across Cornwall and had a wide range of success with all the projects we have been involved with.

“Our approach is to deliver high quality bespoke training involving some of the best retail experts in the industry. In the current market, it’s even more important for retailers to get the best practical advice to help them achieve success.”

Most recently, Hayle retailers were given advice on shop layout, displaying best sellers and tricks of the trade for creating window displays from retail guru Peter Cooper.

Bini Barnes, who runs Blushhh Lingerie in Hayle, said: “This training was inspiring and got everyone really excited about their businesses. I was absolutely fascinated to learn how displays change the way people shop. I can’t wait to put all my new ideas into practice.”

Two more sessions in Hayle are planned for February and March, focusing on the importance of branding and online trading.

Both sessions are free but prior booking is essential. Email admin@hayleareaplan.org.uk for more details.
