The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Growth Hub celebrates its birthday today (May 9), marking eight years of supporting businesses across the county.

Since its beginnings, experts at the Growth Hub have been working with local businesses, self-employed, and not-for-profit organisations, to find the right guidance, support, and grant funding to help work smarter, develop and grow.

And today they continue to work tirelessly to support a wide range of people – from those with a spark of an innovative idea to others thriving in the business world.

Businesses that contact the Growth Hub are offered a free business review, which can result in being sign-posted to resources, help to fill skills gap, finance opportunities, and more.

It’s been eight years now but staff at the Growth Hub still relish coming into work each day, believing it is more than ‘just a job’.

Kirsty Miles-Musgrave, operations manager at the Hub, loves seeing how much business reviews really can help.

She said: “Often people say they benefit as much from the review we offer as the support they go to afterwards. The difference conversations can make to people, their business and ultimately their lives, is very satisfying.”

Louis Gardner, Cornwall Council’s cabinet portfolio holder for the economy, added: “The Growth Hub has worked with over 5,000 local business and speaks to over 100 businesses each month helping them access business support and advice, training and events to enable them to grow and thrive.

“Happy eighth birthday to the Growth Hub and here’s to another eight years.”

The Growth Hub is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund as part of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Good Growth Programme. The aim is to realise the potential of businesses in the region and to make the economy more resilient, more equal and more prosperous.
