Leading Cornish energy efficiency specialist, Enact, has welcomed the decision by the Government not to cut spending plans for renewable power as part of its recent Comprehensive Spending Review.

The decision by Government to retain Feed-In-Tariffs (FITs), which were launched in April this year, will, says Enact CEO Adrian Wright, encourage thousands more homes and businesses across the county to benefit from solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, reducing their electricity usage and earning hundreds of pounds every year under the scheme.

He said: “Cornwall is set to become the focal point for the UK renewable energy market in the coming years – given our favourable location – and the decision to protect the renewable energy budget from the cuts is not only good news for home and business owners but could also act as a springboard in terms of investment and employment opportunities across the county.

“Clearly by making this decision, the Government is putting renewable energy extremely high up on its list of priorities and that can only be a good thing for Cornwall given its importance in this growing sector.”
