Hydra (South West) Ltd, in consultation with Aussie Marquees of Tregony, has developed and manufactured a state of the art decking system for Watergate Bay.

The decking will be used as a removable bar area adjacent to the Beach Hut restaurant on the beach. Previously a scaffolding structure had been erected, but the client felt a more stylish and robust structure with flexible applications would be ideal.

Will Ashworth, managing director of Watergate Bay, required an extension to the Beach Hut on the beach at Watergate Bay to provide an ‘Après Surf Bar’ for the surfers and beach use which could be assembled and disassembled more readily and look professional.

He commented: “We are delighted with our new Après Surf deck, as were the surfers as they relaxed with a pint of Sharps beer after a hard days surfing. This extension to our beach service now allows the Beach Hut to serve more of our visitors to the beach as well as providing a fantastic venue for visiting bands and functions under the cover of a marquee.”

Dave Armstrong of Hydra (South West) added: “This was an interesting project which involved all elements of our business capabilities; it involved our design team and manufacturing facility, who are highly skilled in working with stainless steel and was initially installed by our own installation engineers on site.”
