Citizens Advice Cornwall has appointed a new CEO.

Jon Berg was formerly Citizen’s Advice Cornwall’s head of operations and has been interim CEO over the past six months, following the departure of former CEO, Gill Pipkin.

His career has included management, operations and customer service roles with Seasalt, Barclays and Shelterbox. He has worked as a professional coach, been the owner of a successful hospitality business and now volunteers as a youth football coach, having previously volunteered for the Samaritans in Cornwall for four years.

Chair, Fran Keene, said: “Trustees are delighted to appoint Jon as our CEO after a rigorous national recruitment campaign. Jon’s commercial and charity experience and extensive knowledge of our service and ethos make him brilliantly placed to lead us through our next stage of development.

“The cost of living crises have massively increased demand for Citizens Advice and our ambition is to reach more people in Cornwall with expert advice, research and campaigns.

“I’m looking forward to working with Jon and the trustees to strengthen and build our service so that we’re more accessible to the people who need us most. Through our empathetic approach we can help address the root causes of the poverty and hardship that are crushing so many people’s potential.”

Berg added: “Our excellent volunteers and staff go above and beyond to provide professional independent advice right across Cornwall and I’m grateful to trustees for this unique opportunity to lead the organisation.

“I’m really looking forward to collaborating even more effectively with the charity’s partners to enable the Citizen’s Advice Cornwall staff and volunteer team to meet the ever growing demand for their expertise. We have much to learn from the people we serve as well as from our volunteers and frontline staff and I am passionate about working with everyone to provide a first class advice service for the people of Cornwall.”
