Lt Col Richard Trant was appointed chairman of the Cornwall Heritage Trust at its AGM, which was held via Zoom recently.
Trant first became involved with Cornwall Heritage Trust as a trustee in 2014 when he returned home to Lostwithiel having served 27 years in the Army
Since then he has also served as a trustee of the Cornwall Regimental Museum, a director of the Embassy for CIOS and a member of the Cornwall Place Board. In addition to these commitments he also heads up the team that delivers the Cornwall Garden Society Spring Flower Show.
He said: “I believe the trust is a wonderful organisation and it is one that has been changing and developing amazingly since its inception over 35 years ago.
“Our heritage is often unseen to us but is a vital part for all of our individual and collective senses of place and purpose. For those of us who are fortunate enough to call Cornwall our home, its heritage underpins so much of how we feel about this place in which we live.
“Cornwall Heritage Trust aims to champion our heritage through its sites, projects and through the promotion, protection and preservation of Cornish heritage be it physical, cultural or spiritual.
“I am greatly honoured and humbled in equal measure to be given this precious thing to look after, develop and nurture. Thank you to the trustees for bestowing this responsibility upon me.”
