A family-run pig farm near Redruth has racked up a century of awards for its pork products.

Busveal-based Primrose Herd, which is involved in rare-breed pigs including pedigree Gloucester Old Spots, Large Blacks and Saddlebacks, was crowned regional champion in the speciality pork product category at the BPEX Regional Roadshow for its Cornish Hogs Pudding.

Primrose, which supplies food to retailers and restaurants in Cornwall and beyond, has picked up more than 20 prizes over the past 12 months alone.

Primrose’s Sally Lugg said the accolades are a welcome acknowledgment of the effort the company has put into offering quality produce.

“We’re incredibly proud of our products so to have that backed up by recognition of this scale from respected industry experts is wonderful for us,” she said.

“We’ve managed to create a good name for ourselves over the years and awards like these are the icing on the cake.”
