Truro based property consultancy Alder King has been named as the most active agent in the Somerset Devon and Cornwall region, for the eighth year in a row.

Alder King was recognised for completing the most commercial property deals in the region over the last 12 months by EGi, the online arm of Estates Gazette magazine.

Tim Smart, head of agency, Cornwall at Alder King commented: “This award is a testament to the hard work put in by our teams, who continue to make deals happen despite facing challenging market conditions.

“Our in depth local knowledge means that we can provide our clients with the advice they need to get the most out of their property assets.  This is particularly important during the current downturn and we are advising many clients who are strategically altering their property portfolio so that they are well placed to ride out the recession, whilst being prepared for the upturn when the market recovers.”

Alder King’s recent deals in Cornwall include the sale of the former Woodlands Hotel site in Newquay off a guide price of over £1 million to a private individual.  The 1.14 acre site has planning permission for 18 high quality residential units.

The team also completed the largest industrial leasehold deal in Cornwall during 2008.  The consultants negotiated the assignment of the leases on Units 1 and 2 on St Columb Major Business Park to St Austell Brewery.  The units were previously occupied by Borders Books UK and extend to 100,000 sq ft.
