Coodes shines in legal guide

Coodes Solicitors has been recognised for its outstanding work in the new 2024 edition of the Legal 500 – a leading guide to the UK’s best lawyers.

The law firm’s clinical negligence, personal injury, agriculture and estates, contentious trusts and probate and family teams have been recognised as “brilliant lawyers” in the prestigious national directory.

Based on feedback from clients and professionals, the Legal 500 ranks Coodes, which has a network of offices across Cornwall and Devon, for its range of specialist legal advice.

Legal 500 said: “It has honed a deserved reputation in the region as worthy competition, with brilliant lawyers, a growing practice and a very longstanding pedigree of quality work.”

The directory recognises Coodes’ clinical negligence team as having an expertise in neurological injury cases, surgery related claims and birth injury mandates alongside gynaecology claims and those arising out of mental health issues. Department manager, Rachel Pearce, is praised as “very personable and knowledgeable” and partner, Julie Hatton, and litigation executive, Sharon Parsons, are noted as part of the “very good specialist clinical negligence team”.

The agriculture and estates team is highly praised for its professional, knowledgeable and personal service. Work highlights include assisting with the purchase of a farm and its subsequent diversification.

Pam Johns who heads up the team is “noted for her expertise in complex rural properties” whilst Partner Abi Lutey is recognised as “kind, hard working and professional”. Other members of the team noted are Partners Kevin George, Lisa Robinson and Kirsty Davey.

The guide describes the contentious trusts and probates team as “knowledgeable, reassuring and friendly” and noted them as “the premier contentious probate outfit in the south west”. Head of the team, Melanie Grose, was celebrated as “effective, knowledgeable and personable” whilst partner Colin Hunter and Associate Hayley Gaffney were also recognised for always going above and beyond.

The family team is recommended as “very well established and highly regarded locally” and testimonials note that the team “puts their clients’ needs first”. Department head Sarah Evans is noted as a “fantastic solicitor” and “brilliant family lawyer” whilst partner Elise Alma, Partner Karen Pritchard and solicitor Victoria Walters are also recognised for their expertise.
