Construction work has begun on a £3 million project to create six new beach cottages at Widemouth Bay in north Cornwall.
The Atlantic View scheme stands on the site of a redundant holiday complex and on the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Martin Back, lead architect and director of The Bazeley Partnership, said: “The Atlantic View project is an exciting blend of contemporary design and renewable technologies that promote energy efficiency.
“The use of natural, local-sourced materials will allow the beach cottages to integrate visually and responsibly into the landscape supporting the development of a new approach to the design of property on the north Cornwall coast.”
Devon-based property developer Grenadier Estates is leading the scheme, while construction work is being carried out by Holsworthy building contractor JE Stacey & Co Ltd.
The first phase of the development is due to be completed by summer 2015.
