Our mission at The Hugs Foundation charity, is to support people and animals in a way that benefits them both, creating a unique atmosphere of wellbeing for all in an inclusive, safe and nurturing environment.
What we have achieved at Hugs since opening in 2017 is amazing, but we want to help even more horses and ponies in need and support more people’s mental health and wellbeing too. So far we have….
- Rescued over 190 horses, ponies and an array of other animals
- Rehomed over 150 horses and ponies
- Delivered over 6,520 hours of on-site wellbeing interventions supporting more than 700 children and young people
- Visited multiple care homes with our rescue animals to help overcome loneliness in the elderly
We are one of the first charity organisations to have been accepted onto the new Human Equine Interaction Register UK (HEIR) register. The HEIR register has been created to ensure all people involved in the field of human-equine interactions operate credible, high-quality, safe and ethical practice standards for their service provision.
In other news, we are excited to have launched our Business Hugs Heroes. For your kind donation, your business will be given a supporter package that gives something back. Packages start from as little as £240 for the year which can be paid annually or monthly and will give you access to over 6,000 Facebook followers, reaching up to 12,000 views through our Facebook feeds. Or if you want to fully immerse yourself into Hugs, you could sign up for the Platinum package which will give you access to up to 60,000 plus page views, and VIP access to Hugs, which includes a VIP visit, teambuilding days and volunteer days where you can meet the amazing rescue animals we have here at the Hugs rescue centre. Your business will be able to take in the serene atmosphere at the farm, and all the wellbeing benefits of interactions with the animals.
Businesses are able to pick from bronze, silver, gold and platinum packages to suit their business needs. We are very excited about Business Hugs Heroes and hope we can increase the wellbeing of more organisations and businesses through the love of the animals that we have here at Hugs.

About The Hugs Foundation Charity
The Hugs Foundation rescues and rehabilitates horses and ponies and endeavours to find them forever homes. Hugs also supports children, young people and the elderly community to improve health and wellbeing. Their unique mix of support includes; animal assisted services, therapeutic outdoor learning, ecotherapy, teambuilding, arts and crafts, nature walks, and practical skills such as horticulture.
Situated in a unique, nurturing environment, Hugs supports a range of needs including; social, emotional, physical, and mental ill health, those who have experienced trauma, abuse and neglect, low self-esteem, learning and developmental needs, special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), social isolation, reengaging with education, life transitions, bereavements, self-harm and those at risk of suicide.
The team are specialists in their field and work in a person led, holistic way. This ensures service users are the centre of their own recovery, allowing the Hugs team to support the individual to find their own answers and give them tools and mechanisms to keep the positive changes going once they have finished their time at Hugs. Over the years they have built working partnerships with mainstream schools, specialist schools, social workers, NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), Cornwall Council, other charities and hospices.
