Lois Craze, Security Duty Manager at FX Plus

Blazing a trail for professional women, Lois has made history as the first ever triple-award winner at the Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards 2022.

Lois started her Team Leader Supervisor Apprenticeship to further her career at FX Plus while employed as Customer Service Supervisor. Two promotions have now taken her to her current role of Security Duty Manager.

Lois has successfully launched a mobile phone safety app ‘SafeZone’ that vastly improved response times to emergency, first aid and non-emergency calls, and continues to manage the initiative across University of Exeter and Falmouth campuses.

Lois said: “Being a woman in a very male dominated job role can be challenging at times. I feel that I must work harder to be taken seriously, but with the support I have been given I feel comfortable enough to address any issues and establish myself within my role.”

One of Lois’s career highlights was being recognised by the University on International Women’s Day 2022. She has also been presented with ‘Powers’ by the Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall Police for her work under the prestigious Community Safety Accreditation Scheme.

At the 2022 Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards, Lois made history, being crowned the first-ever triple award winner, scooping Management Apprentice of the Year, Achiever of the Year and the coveted Cornwall’s Apprentice of the Year awards.

Daniel Hawkey, Security Manager at FX Plus commented: “Lois is a staff member every team needs. She is always positive and finds the good in every situation. With the skills she has developed thanks to Truro and Penwith College, I have a Duty Manager to be proud of”.
