Inox Group, the company behind the mixed use development to be built on land at Langarth Farm near Truro, has received a formal outline planning consent from Cornwall Council, paving the way for work to start on site next year.

The news is also a positive step forward for the proposed Stadium for Cornwall, which shares vital infrastructure with the scheme.

“I also hope that speedy delivery of the project and the new infrastructure that it provides will catalyse the delivery of the Stadium for Cornwall”

The project includes 1,500 new homes, primary school, care village, community centre, hotel and a 600-space extension to the Threemilestone park and ride, increasing its capacity by 50%.

It represents an investment of £400 million and is projected to create an estimated 1,000 jobs.

Rob Saltmarsh, MD of Exeter-based Inox Group, said: “Inox are pleased that matters have been concluded with Cornwall Council. This decision allows Inox to begin work on the further reserved matters planning applications which will facilitate the commencement of development.

“The Langarth project is a very significant private sector investment into Cornwall and will be a welcome boost in terms of job creation and much needed housing in Truro.”

Saltmarsh added: “I also hope that speedy delivery of the project and the new infrastructure that it provides will catalyse the delivery of the Stadium for Cornwall project that has already received full planning permission on an adjacent site.”
