Ryanair has cancelled all of its flights between Newquay and Stansted until the spring.

The budget airline cited the current uncertainty surrounding the airport as the reason for removing Newquay from its winter schedule. Newquay is currently closed because of Cornwall County Council’s delay in obtaining a civil aviation licence. It hopes to be able to reopen the airport on Decemeber 19, although there is no guarantee.

Ryanair spokesman Stephen McNamara said: “Ryanair cannot continue to allow passengers to book seats on flights which we can have no certainty of operating.”

Ryanair is expected to resume the Newquay/Stansted route from March 2.
