A steel fabrication firm serving Devon and Cornwall is celebrating ten years of quality certification.

Saltash-based Westcountry Fabrication has been awarded the ISO9001:2015 certification by industry specialist Steel Construction Certification Scheme Limited (SCCS).

Reflecting on the past ten years of ISO9001 certifications, MD Jack Gailer said: “Having the certification and maintaining it for ten years certainly sets us apart from our competitors.

“It gives us a solid framework for quality management. Our mission has always been to be to offer a high quality, reliable steel fabrication service for clients in the construction sector and the ISO9001 audit and certification process has helped us to achieve our goals.”

Following in his father’s footsteps, Gailer began welding when he was a small boy. He relaunched Celtic Welding, originally his father’s business run from the family home, in 2011. Gailer was operating as a sole trader, trading as Westcountry Fabrication for some years before establishing a limited company, Westcountry Fabrication Ltd.

Westcountry Fabrication received its first ISO9001 certification in 2014. At the time it was a very small company operating out of a unit in Plymouth, with Gailer and two full time employees, Jay Hart and Neil Hart. The company has since grown to 13 employees, operating out of a larger workshop in Saltash, specialising in structural steelwork. The team has grown but at its core are founding members Jack Gailer as the MD, Jay Hart as manager and Neil Hart as foreman.
