A Cornish radio presenter is preparing to attempt a marathon solo show in a bid to raise funds for two worthy charities.

Richard Woods, MD and presenter at Redruth-based Rewind Radio is aiming to spend 26.2 hours non-stop live on air for the broadcaster’s charity radiothon that begins at 2pm on Thursday (Sep 28).

“To make it from 2pm on Thursday to 4.12pm the next day is going to be tough,” said Woods. “I will be supported by local businesses who have generously donated by purchasing hours ahead of the challenge, the only rule was that they must keep me entertained, and hopefully awake.

“The team at Rewind Radio have been working with the businesses, including our main supporters Frame UK and Perran Trusses. I have no idea what to expect. All I know is we will be streaming the event on our Facebook and YouTube channel for everyone to watch, listeners can also tune in via DAB radio, the app, online and via a smart speaker.”

The charities set to benefit from Richard’s endeavours on the airwaves are Children’s Hospice South West and HD Livin’, a charity that provides support to Huntingdon’s disease (HD) sufferers and their families.
