Helicopter tour agency Adventure 001 has donated £21k to Cornwall Air Ambulance from its summer flights.

The company raised the money from its pleasure trips around St Ives Bay, which ran for two weeks in August. Adventure 001 has supported the charity for many years, raising more than £200k for the lifesaving air ambulance service.

Neil McLaren, MD of Adventure 001, said: “We are continually inspired and moved by the vital and lifesaving efforts carried out every day by the Cornwall Air Ambulance. With the challenges faced this year, the importance of community support to aid organisations in need was heightened more than ever.

“The prospect of charities suffering only strengthened our efforts to deliver a successful event and give something back to an organisation at the forefront of the Cornish community. We were blown away by the incredible support received from both local people and businesses. Our passengers received an unforgettable experience, awareness was raised and most importantly funds were donated.”

The flights in St Ives were Adventure 001’s first following the lockdown restrictions. This year they offered a special rate for locals, which was well received.

Steph Bray, corporate fundraising officer for Cornwall Air Ambulance, added: “Adventure 001 has been a fantastic supporter of Cornwall Air Ambulance and we are delighted to receive a generous donation once again. It has been a tough year for the charity, so we are incredibly grateful for their continued support, which will help to save lives in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.”
