Staff at autism charity Spectrum visited the company’s new state-of-the-art offices and support centre for the first time yesterday.
Spectrum will be relocating from its current office in Penryn to Trevissome Park, near Chiverton Cross in early May.
The 660sq m bespoke office will be home to around 30 of the charity’s support staff including HR, finance, admin support, operations and the senior management team.
One of the main areas will be Spectrum’s training centre, which delivers evidence-based specialist education to the highest standards – including City and Guilds qualifications and apprenticeships.
“This is a very exciting move for Spectrum,” said chief executive Mary Simpson. “We’ve been at Sterling Court in Penryn for more than ten years, but it’s an ageing building with a small car park so we have taken advantage of a break in the lease.
“We loved the accessibility of Trevissome Park, as well as the fantastic eco-credentials of the building and we are all looking forward to moving into our new home.”
The move will bring to fruition a two-year project between Spectrum and Jonathan Kearsley, owner of Trevissome Park.
The purpose-built office, which is striving to be carbon neutral, is powered by a wind turbine and solar panels, heated by a ground-source heat pump and gets fresh water from a bore hole.
It is open-plan and all on one level, with 42 roof lights, partial triple glazing and a grass roof.
Kearsley said: “This new building is an accolade for Trevissome Park and is everything we’ve been striving towards since we started in 2002.
“To attract a tenant such as Spectrum, with the worthy cause they promote and the keen goal of looking after our environment, I cannot think of a better partnership.
“There had to be a lot of trust on both sides when creating something as challenging as zero carbon construction. Spectrum’s fit-out has embraced the ethos of natural light in the low energy structure and complimented the passion we share for Trevissome Park as a whole.
“I’d like to thank Spectrum for joining me on this journey towards a better working environment.”
