The organiser of the region’s tourism awards is celebrating following news of its own ‘Outstanding’ Award in the Awards Trust Mark scheme.

The Award is being presented to Services for Tourism, organiser of the South West Tourism Excellence Awards as well as the Cornwall, Bristol, Bath & Somerset, Devon, Dorset and Beautiful South Tourism Awards.

It was confirmed by the Independent Awards Standards Council following an assessment of the standards applied by Services for Tourism in running the awards, along with interviews with winners and judges. Winning the ‘outstanding’ accolade required evidence against 18 criteria including independence of judges, confidentiality, judge training, transparency and feedback.

As one entrant summarised in their feedback: “Very well put together awards and event. We found the process very professional and rewarding. We look forward to a detailed judges report for future help towards our business.”

Services for Tourism director, Robin Barker, said: “We’re delighted to accept this award on behalf of the team and our many judges, who together put in weeks of work to research the entrants and help them be the best they can be.  The whole process is about recognising and encouraging excellence and it is great that our own standards have been recognised.”
