Under his leadership, bmibaby grew to become one of Europe’s largest low cost airlines and was recently purchased, along with parent company BMI, by British Airways.

Bryon now enjoys a successful media career and is a regular guest on national programmes including Five Live, BBC Radio 2, BBC News 24 and Sky News.

The Cornwall Business Awards, now in their eighth year, are being hosted by the Cornwall Development Company (CDC) at St Mellion International on May 16, in partnership with Business Cornwall magazine and the Cornwall Chamber of Commerce.

Dr Bryon said: “I am delighted to be speaking at the Cornwall Business Awards. Cornwall is at a very exciting time in its history. Not only is it leading the UK in rural broadband with its multi million pound Superfast Cornwall programme, it is also pioneering other great business growth initiatives such as the Newquay Aerohub.

“The Cornwall Business Awards are a wonderful way of shining the spotlight on business success in Cornwall at this time of rapid economic development.”
