Ten local businesses have been shortlisted for the Ignite 2012 business planning competition.

The competition is managed by Oxford Innovation as part of its Coaching for High Growth programme, with a support package worth over £100k up for grabs.

The Ignite 2012 judges

Judges came together this week to whittle down the entrants to a shortlist of ten. Entrants were required to submit a three minute video pitch which the Ignite judges independently reviewed

Each finalist will now be assigned an Oxford Innovation coach who will work with them to translate their idea into a full business plan. All plans will then be submitted to the judges early next month and pitched live at the Ignite 2012 final at Heartlands in Pool on October 18.

The Ignite 2012 judges’ meeting was chaired by John Stewart, founder of Worlds Apart, who commented: “The other judges and I were encouraged by the variety of entrants to the competition and the ten finalists are a diverse mix of product and services businesses, which span a range of sectors. It is exciting to see the wealth of new and innovative businesses emerging right here in Cornwall.”
