Triple winning St Michael's Hotel celebrate last year's awards success

With Cornwall already confirmed as the Best UK Holiday Destination in the British Travel Awards 2009, the search is now on for the best in the Duchy with the official launch of the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2010.

Open to all tourism related businesses, the awards shine the spotlight on Cornwall’s quality tourism product and celebrate the industry’s passion for excellence. The 15 award categories touch all sectors of the industry covering everything from Large Visitor Attraction of the Year to Cafe of the Year.

Having officially opened this week, businesses have until May 14 to enter.

In reflection of the ever advancing industry, the Cornwall Tourism Awards have undergone some changes for 2010 to keep them relevant and competitive. Malcolm Bell, head of tourism at VisitCornwall explained: “With websites now forming an important element of every modern tourism business, the Website of the Year category has been removed and now forms an integral part of every application.

“Also, as these awards are all about giving the people that make such a difference to the visitor experience the recognition that they deserve we’ve also improved the Outstanding Customer Service category so that it is open to teams as well as individuals. And finally, there are now two Self-Catering Establishment of the Year categories to acknowledge large and small operators.”

Application forms and a full list of categories is available at cornwalltourismawards.
