A new community interest company (CIC) has sprung up in Cornwall to help local businesses offset their carbon footprint.

The Field to Forest Foundation CIC funds the planting of trees on spare farmland that can’t be used to grow food.

Local businesses are coming onboard, making pledges to plant trees to counter their carbon footprints and to support biodiversity in the local area.

Companies involved in the scheme so far include Cornish Concrete Products, Shore Partnership estate agents and Scott Woyka Fine Furniture.

Shore Partnership director, Ben Davies, said: “As part of our continued efforts to ‘give something back’, we are delighted to be supporting the Field to Forest Foundation.

“This community and environmental not-for-profit project has been set up to facilitate the reforestation of land around farms in order to create wildlife habitats, help with carbon sequestration and make a positive contribution to counter the effects of climate change.”
