A new Cornish play equipment company has launched its first range of products.

The Play Planetarium

Science Play is a collaboration of scientists, teachers and experts in outdoor and indoor commercial play design who have “teamed-up to change the way that science is experienced by our future generations”.

The St Dennis-based company has been co-founded by children’s’ product designer Amy Charman, and Darryl Sergison, a doctoral researcher in astrophysics at the University of Exeter.

The company’s aim is to produce products which will bring key aspects of the science curriculum to the playground, offering children the opportunity to experience “giant hands on science experiences, outdoors and in”.

Its first release is the Play Planetarium, a resource for teaching children about the night sky.
