Kevin Viner, who is regarded as being one of Cornwall’s finest chefs and was voted National Chef of the Year in the UK by the Craft Guild of Chefs, has joined the Rose in Vale Hotel.

He will lead the team at the new ‘Viner at the Rose’ restaurant, which is part of the four star hotel in Mithian.

The restaurant officially opens on Saturday, February 2, with a special evening where diners can enjoy a one-off taster menu.

Rose in Vale’s James Evans said: “We’re really excited to welcome Kevin to the team at the Rose in Vale.

“I am certain that the restaurant will become a beacon for culinary excellence.”

The new menu will see Viner return to his fine dining routes that earned him his Michelin Star when he ran Pennypots in Blackwater.

Viner, who was nominated as one of the Top Ten Chef’s of the decade by The AA Restaurant Guide, said: “We will be creating a fine dining experience at the restaurant and going back to what I originally became known for.

“We’re going to champion local produce as part of the menu, and I also want to help provide training for young people looking to start their own career in the restaurant trade.”

  1. Great to have him back. Went to Viners a couple of years ago and it was amazing. This is great news.
